Peter Holsten

President

President

Since 1975, Peter has led the Holsten team of companies, including the real estate development, property management, and construction entities. Originally founded in 1975, the real estate company has grown to develop over 5,000 housing units with total development costs in excess of $500 million. Beginning with one 16-unit apartment building on Chicago’s North Side, the company has grown to develop large sites with increasingly complex financing structures.

Peter is active in numerous civic organizations and is currently a member the Edgewater-Uptown Builders Association and the City of Chicago Affordable Housing Task Force. He also serves on Fannie Mae’s Advisory Board that addresses homeownership opportunities for low-income households. Peter is a licensed real estate broker.

Peter received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

Jackie Taylor Holsten

Vice President, Human Capital Development

Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Director of Midwest Operations

Jackie joined the Holsten team as Vice President of Human Capital Development. Previously, an assistant commissioner with the City’s Department of Planning and Development, she oversaw projects on Chicago’s Near West Side, which included the University of Illinois South Campus expansion and the Illinois Medical District. Jackie also served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Permit Division in the Chicago Department of Buildings. She has had additional experience in property management, construction, and banking. At Holsten, Jackie spearheads property management of all housing types in the Holsten portfolio and ensures the healthy blend of our buildings and residents to create thriving communities.

Jackie earned her bachelor of science degree from Northwestern University and her juris doctor from Loyola University. She is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois.

Andreea Marvucic

Andreea joined Holsten in 1991 and since 1997 she has supervised all aspects of the accounting and financial operations. In 2009, she was given the additional responsibility of overseeing all development activities. In accounting and finance, Andreea oversees Holsten’s V.P. / Controller and Human Resources Manager. Andreea has implemented many new control policies and has led corporate training for the property management staff on building cash flow and monthly financial reporting. In Development, Andreea supervises all Project Managers and the Manager of Construction Management. Development activities include site selection, acquisition, management of architects, contractors and other professionals, financing, construction management, lease-up/ sell out and asset management.

Andreea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola University.

Monique Johnson

Monique joined Holsten in 1992. She is responsible for the administrative management of the portfolio properties and corporate operations. She has particular expertise in affordable housing compliance procedures that include low-income housing tax credits, HOME funds, and real estate tax incentive programs. She has been instrumental in setting up and monitoring corporate policies to maintain compliance within the complex affordable housing program restrictions. She also leads the human resources and office management functions.

Monique received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago and has completed many certification courses in affordable housing.

Kendra Jackson

Kendra Jackson joined Holsten Real Estate Development Corporation in 1999. As Vice President of Human Capital Development, Ms. Jackson’s responsibilities focus on the design and implementation of social service programs administered by Holsten’s Human Capital Development division (HHCD). HHCD specializes in assisting public housing and low- income residents make a successful transition to the private housing market, specifically in mixed-income communities. Services center around three key area to move residents toward self-sufficiency: Resident Transition, Workforce Development and Community Building.

Kendra oversees the daily operation of five Human Capital offices, monitors Holsten’s compliance on MBE/WBE participation, Section 3 and neighborhood hiring commitments and serves as Associate Director of Holsten Human Capital Development, NFP. Through HHCD’s not for profit, Kendra is responsible for pursuing grant opportunities and building partnership to create sustainable revenue to support HHCD programs.

Kendra serves on the Board of Commissioners for the City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations and as Chair of the City’s Advisory Council on Women. Ms. Jackson is a Certified Compliance Professional for the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson.

Kendra holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Masters in Public Administration from DePaul University.

Cristina Zavala

Cristina joined Holsten in 2003. Holsten Management’s accounting division is responsible for all accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources and all financial transactions for all the projects managed by Holsten Management Corporation. Accounts receivable is responsible for processing the rent and all other tenant related payments on a daily basis. Accounts payable is responsible for processing all vendor invoices and payments for each of our projects.

On a monthly basis, our financial accountants prepare financial statements for each individual project. This includes monthly cash flow, bank reconciliations, income statements and balance sheets which are sent out to all lenders and investors. Each Fall, the accounting department assists property management in preparing the annual operating budget. Each Spring, Holsten’s outside CPA firm prepares the annual audits for all properties managed. Cristina also administers all property and corporate liability risk management policies for Holsten.

Cristina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and will graduate with her Masters in Accounting and Financial Management in December of 2010 from Keller Graduate School of Management.
