Lawson House, a 24-story Art Deco building dating from 1931 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a comprehensive redevelopment and rehabilitation of the former Chicago YMCA headquarters that converted 583 single-occupancy sleeping rooms into 409 modern studio apartments with private kitchens and baths that provide affordable housing in the heart of the Near North Side. In addition to the residential conversion, building changes include a fitness center, an open community space, a green rooftop terrace, ground floor retail, lounges, movie room, bicycle room, and new laundry facilities.
